It is easy to look at our lives and see everything that is going wrong. We focus in on how things aren't looking the way we believe they should be and we get upset about it. In other words, we put our energy into all the things we can't change. Whether our analysis is Biblically correct or not, we have to let those things go.
If we are carrying around the frustrations of the things we cannot change we will have a very hard time being successful in what Jesus wants us to do. We cannot hear what Jesus is saying because we are tuned into the wrong station. Instead of worrying about the things in life that we have no control of, give it to Jesus. Don't waste your energy trying to do a job that was never meant for you. Pray about it and give over the situation to His hands.
This can be very difficult, especially when the things you want to change are having a direct affect on your personal life. But Jesus always sorts things out on our behalf and sometimes it's a process. While He sorts it out in the way that it needs to be accomplished, all you have to do is sit back and wait and focus on Him. Our God is faithful. All we have to do is lay our lives at His feet.
2 Chronicles 20:15 He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's." (NIV)
Deuteronomy 1:30 The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes (NIV)
Exodus 14:14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. (NIV)
Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (ESV)
Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (NIV)
