How many times have you chosen to do the right thing and seen no immediate results? You keep doing exactly what the Bible instructs you to do and yet, nothing seems to have changed in your life. We all have been there. Living in an instant gratification society can make us impatient with our God. In the times that we begin to question if doing good is really doing us any good at all, ask yourself: Is Jesus who He says He is?
A simple reminder that rarely do we see the results of a righteous life immediately. The Bible talks over and over again about how we plant seeds. If you've ever tried to grow something you'll know that it takes time. You have to continuously nurture that seed until it has grown enough to actually produce a harvest. Some plants take longer than others, but if you give up in the middle of the process, you'll never get the fruit of the tree at all. Our faith is the same way.
If you feel as if the seeds you have planted in your life are never going to blossom, remember the God you follow. If you doubt Him then you will doubt the process of sowing and reaping. But if you have committed to Jesus Christ then you should believe that what He says is true and that you will indeed reap a beautiful harvest for living a righteous lifestyle. If you believe it, never stop planting those seeds and I promise you blessings will catch up to you in due time.
Galatians 6:7-10 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. (ESV)
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have…and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. -Mother Teresa
