So many of us have the mentality that we need to store up for the future to live comfortably. We store up our money in savings accounts and our supplies in excess. But what is the point? You never know when may be your time to go. Wouldn't it be so much better to share your wealth with those who need help as we are supposed to? Paul instructs us to make things equal.
Don't store up wealth for yourself. You can't those things with you into the next life. Instead, use your supplies as God instructs us to. Use it for advancing His Kingdom, not your comfort. Fight the selfish desires of the flesh and be blessed for it. Don't be like the rich fool.
Luke 12:16-21 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid upfor many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This nightyour soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”(ESV)
2 Corinthians 8:13-14 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. (ESV)
