Number One

    The verse Psalm 37:4 is quoted often-- "He will give you your heart's desires." Unfortunately, I think it is a bit misunderstood. Our heart's desires referred to in this verse are the desires placed there by God, not by the flesh. We may desire what is sinful and not healthy for us, but the Lord replaces those desires with righteous ones when are pursuing a relationship with Him. The desires of our heart should be from Jesus and of course He will satisfy those when we are seeking Him. If you were thinking that you could use Jesus as a means to receive any sinful desires that could be in your heart, you are wrong. The point is this: when we are seeking Him, we are doing just what we were designed to do. That is why a life lived with Jesus is so altogether fulfilling. Establish a relationship with Jesus where He is number one in your life, then allow Him to transform your desires and ultimately fulfill them.

Psalm 37:3-4 Trust in the Lord and do what is good;dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. (HCSB)

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV)

 Romans 13:14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. (NIV)

 Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (NIV)

 2 Corinthians 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord--who is the Spirit--makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. (NLT)

Dancing Through the Fire

     For a couple weeks now the Lord has been pressing this message on my heart. He revealed a flaw in my thinking I hadn't noticed. You see, when hard times come it's in my nature to duck and cover. I go into "survival mode" and I get tunnel vision. I only focus on getting through what's in front of me alive. But in doing so, not only do I miss a lot of opportunities, but I give in to the voice of fear in my life.     I know I don't speak only for myself when I say that God wants to us in our "every day lives." How Firm a Foundation

Matthew 7:24-27 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. Taking the Lead

    When you are in a position of leadership your entire life becomes public. You have people looking up to you and down on you simultaneously. Your life is judged more harshly not only by those who you are leading, but by God. It's not something one should ask God for flippantly. That in mind, how do you view your own leaders? I would bet that the majority of us have complaints about them. So how do we deal with that Biblically?     First, we need to recognize that leadership in a church is God-appointed. God chooses who will lead the church for a specified season. Do you not think that He could take anyone out of a leadership position at any time if He so chose? The point is, we need to recognize Jesus' anointing and honor our leaders. We also need to judge less harshly those who are in those positions.
