Number One

    The verse Psalm 37:4 is quoted often-- "He will give you your heart's desires." Unfortunately, I think it is a bit misunderstood. Our heart's desires referred to in this verse are the desires placed there by God, not by the flesh. We may desire what is sinful and not healthy for us, but the Lord replaces those desires with righteous ones when are pursuing a relationship with Him. The desires of our heart should be from Jesus and of course He will satisfy those when we are seeking Him. If you were thinking that you could use Jesus as a means to receive any sinful desires that could be in your heart, you are wrong. The point is this: when we are seeking Him, we are doing just what we were designed to do. That is why a life lived with Jesus is so altogether fulfilling. Establish a relationship with Jesus where He is number one in your life, then allow Him to transform your desires and ultimately fulfill them.

Psalm 37:3-4 Trust in the Lord and do what is good;dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. (HCSB)

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV)

 Romans 13:14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. (NIV)

 Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (NIV)

 2 Corinthians 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord--who is the Spirit--makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. (NLT)

     We have now gone over me time and we time, so today I want to address He time. It's a pretty simple concept-- that we have to spend time with Jesus to grow our faith. Just like anything else we want to get better at, you have to spend time doing it. Here's to New Beginnings!

    As 2014 begins, with it comes talk of a fresh start and new beginnings. Resolutions are made to eat healthier, save money, travel, learn a new skill etc. But as Christ followers, the new year is always a good reminder of who we are in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come. Knock-Knock

Revelation 3:20   Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. (ESV)     When you think of a gentleman what comes to mind? A man who holds open doors, pulls out your chair, and helps you with your coat? Whatever your definition is, one thing I think we can agree on is that a gentleman is never pushy. He is "gentle" and meek, respecting all those around him. To me, Jesus is the perfect example of a gentleman.     A gentleman never pushes for his way, but respects your thoughts and opinions even if they disagree with his own. But that doesn't mean that he lets his own beliefs fall to the wayside because of what you believe. Does that not describe Jesus?
