Fight with Light

    In politics, we are always trying to solve the world's problems through laws and regulations and it never works. Likewise, all the violence that I have seen on the news lately is alarming. People are trying to fight violence with more violence and it makes no sense. I'm not taking any sides on the issues at hand, but one thing I am sure of: only Jesus can solve the world's problems. If we use laws and protests to fight, we are using worldly weapons. Not to say we shouldn't have laws, but that we should keep in mind that it doesn't solve the root of the issue.

    If you want to be a world changer, you have to be different than the world. The Bible tells us to use Spiritual weapons to fight because we are, in fact, fighting a spiritual battle. We are up against Satan-- the ruler of darkness-- who is the cause of evil in the world. You can't win that battle with violence and other methods of darkness. Only light can drive out darkness. Dare to be different. Use your life to carry Jesus' light out into the world to cast out the darkness. 

2 Corinthians 10:3 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (NIV)

Ephesians 6:10-17 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Multiplication Without Division

    The church environment is made to be the body and the family of Christ. We are supposed to love each other and support each other through everything. Sadly, this is not the attitude of most churches in America today. Unfortunately, many people bring the world into the church instead of bringing the church into the world.      A lot of people use the church as a place where they can jockey for positions and get recognized for their talents. They use it as a place where they can judge and condemn others from the safety of their own elite clique. They look down condescendingly on those they see sinning, while sweeping their own sin under the rug.  They cause division. Humble Pie

    One of the most valuable characteristics in our walk with Christ is humility. When we have the ability to humble ourselves before Jesus and accept His leading, we go far. But problems arise when we force our own way. Humility is a characteristic that allows us to accept correction and truth and grow stronger because of it. Pride keeps us tied down and unable to grow up in Christ.     We have our brothers and sisters around us to keep pointing us to Jesus. That means helping us through areas not aligned with Him and combating those areas with the truth. But if we get angry and reject those people, we miss out on growing up for sake of being "right" and lose the people Jesus put in our lives for His sake. It doesn't matter if we are right but only that we follow what Jesus calls right and good.
