Words of Wisdom

    It seems like one thing we are always seeking is the proper knowledge it takes on how to handle the different situations life throws. In other words, we are always desiring wisdom. If you are needing some wisdom to handle some things in your life right now, then there is a simple solution-- ask for it.

    Desiring wisdom is wise in itself and it is guaranteed that if we ask for it in faith, we will receive it.  In the Old Testament, King Solomon was given the opportunity to ask God for whatever He wanted. He asked for sound judgement and went down in history for his unmatched wisdom. The Lord praised Solomon for his decision of wisdom over wealth, recognition, or other earthly pleasures. 

    We have access to all the wisdom we need today, if we only ask. It seems too good to be true! And when we ask for wisdom we gain many more gifts just as King Solomon did. Jesus gives more than we could ever deserve and certainly everything we need. Tap into the wisdom you need today by tapping into a deeper relationship with Jesus.  

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (ESV)

James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. (ESV)

1 Kings 3:5, 9-14 At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” 

....“give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wiseand discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.” (NIV)

Multiplication Without Division

    The church environment is made to be the body and the family of Christ. We are supposed to love each other and support each other through everything. Sadly, this is not the attitude of most churches in America today. Unfortunately, many people bring the world into the church instead of bringing the church into the world.      A lot of people use the church as a place where they can jockey for positions and get recognized for their talents. They use it as a place where they can judge and condemn others from the safety of their own elite clique. They look down condescendingly on those they see sinning, while sweeping their own sin under the rug.  They cause division. Humble Pie

    One of the most valuable characteristics in our walk with Christ is humility. When we have the ability to humble ourselves before Jesus and accept His leading, we go far. But problems arise when we force our own way. Humility is a characteristic that allows us to accept correction and truth and grow stronger because of it. Pride keeps us tied down and unable to grow up in Christ.     We have our brothers and sisters around us to keep pointing us to Jesus. That means helping us through areas not aligned with Him and combating those areas with the truth. But if we get angry and reject those people, we miss out on growing up for sake of being "right" and lose the people Jesus put in our lives for His sake. It doesn't matter if we are right but only that we follow what Jesus calls right and good.
