Silver Linings

    I've been talking a lot about being in a place where you feel as though you are surrounded by darkness simply because I think a great many of us are there these days. But the silver lining is how Jesus uses those circumstances to glorify Himself. He uses difficult circumstances to show His greatness.

    Just like when we go out into areas with low light pollution to see the true brightness of the stars, Jesus' light shines so brightly in contrast with the darkness of the world. His strength shows truest when we are weakest. You needn't look hard to see the light of Jesus-- but you will only see it if you are looking for it.

    Remember also that you offer that same light to others who haven't experienced Christ. We carry His presence with us at all times, making us torch bearers for the rest of the world. Be aware of what's going on with those around you and let His light shine through you and offer a bit of hope to those who are needing it today, just as He gives it to us.

John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (ESV)

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (ESV)

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (ESV)

Ephesians 5:8 For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (ESV)

Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (ESV)

Matthew 10:8 Freely you have received; freely give. (NIV)

Seeing by Faith

    When we are trying to live by faith, the things that inhibit us are the things that are right under our noses. We are trained to live based on the things around us. We don't believe anything if we don't see proof of it. The things around us are more our reality than what we say we believe in. But the Bible tells us that we are to walk by faith and not by sight. We are to live based on what we know is truth, not by what we see.     The things we see around us distract us from the reality we should be living in. What is unseen is eternal and more important than the things of this world. We need to fix our eyes on what is lasting and know the difference. Pergamum

Revelation 2:13-16  “I know that you live in the city where Satan has his throne, yet you have remained loyal to me. You refused to deny me even when Antipas, my faithful witness, was martyred among you there in Satan’s city. “But I have a few complaints against you. You tolerate some among you whose teaching is like that of Balaam, who showed Balak how to trip up the people of Israel. Interesting that what He told the church in Smyrna they were doing wrong was just what those in Pergamum were doing right! How Firm a Foundation
